You’ve probably heard of the saying by Stephen Covey:
If your business hasn’t grown as much as you wanted, then to keep on doing the same things, especially in terms of marketing activities, isn’t going to get you different results. It’s a bit like expecting to lose weight without making any changes to your diet or exercise routine!
A lot of business owners don’t measure the results of their different marketing activities, so they’re never sure what worked. This can be an expensive strategy.
When you’re working on your business growth goals for 2010, refer back to the list of what marketing activities you did in 2009 and, against each one, write down how successful they were in terms of business gained.
If it worked, then it makes sense to keep it on the list for 2010. Whatever didn’t bring any results, don’t waste any more effort or money on it.
(This is another example of where it helps to have a system in place - to measure results of marketing activities regularly - join me for my Teleseminar on 2nd February!)
